Drivers of Change Civil Society Award Winners

Khulumani was grateful to attend the ceremony at which the winners of the Drivers of Change Award were announced.

The winning organisation in the civil society category was Enke – Make Your Mark.

Enke is a youth entrepreneurship organisation that has been creating a network of young South Africans who take action on urgent social issues through running a nine-month long programme that brings young people in Grade 11 together to develop their leadership skills.

Runners up in the Civil Society Awards were the Sonke Gender Justice Network’s One Man Can campaign that mobilises men and boys to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and HIV/AIDS in their communities and the Namibian Women’s Lobby that promotes the equal representation and participation of women in decision-making bodies through advocacy. lobbying and capacity building for women in Namibia.

In the words of director of the Southern Africa Trust, Neville Gabriel, the awards draw attention to organisations that are inspiring new ways of doing things together to overcome entrenched divides between government, business and civil society.
